At our Play Centre in Wokingham we have a special play area dedicated to DUPLO bricks. This is a great space for younger children that enjoy the play experience that DUPLO sets offer. We are always on the look out for new sets to add to our collection for our Mini Master Builders to play with. Today we picked up the Buzz Lightyear’s Planetary Mission DUPLO Set 10962. At the time of purchasing there was a good deal on Amazon for the set – check out the latest price here.
The LEGO Duplo 10962 Buzz Lightyear’s Planetary Mission set is designed for children aged 2 years and up. I am sure that any child who has seen the Lightyear film or any of the Toy Story films would enjoy this set. Buzz’s Spaceship is the highlight of the set, it has two blue booster flames that are added onto the back. It has a space to sit Buzz and a passenger. The set itself comes with a basic instruction booklet on how to put the small space base together and is no more than a 5 minute build but the value of Duplo is in the play aspect of the sets. I can imagine that children will really utilise the spaceship at our Play Centre to whisk Buzz Lightyear to infinity and beyond.
If you are interested in unique Duplo elements then the set comes with a green rubber vine that connects the tree to the hut. I have not seen this on any other set and makes an interesting addition to the set.
The RRP of this set is £29.99, it feels quite a high price to pay for a small set like this but bearing in mind it is a licensed product it isn’t much of a surprise. I picked this up for £20 which seems good value for the playability aspect of the set and I know many children will enjoy playing with it at our Play Centre.
