Business Update: 3rd August 2020

By |2020-09-07T18:39:39+01:00August 3rd, 2020|Brickies at home, News|

Sadly, we have come to the decision that all services delivered by Brickies will remain closed for August. We are working hard to ensure that we can have a successful reopening at the beginning of September. Like many businesses, Brickies has been closed for 6 long months now and although we have benefitted from certain government schemes, it remains a complex task to successfully re-open a business during the current climate. This issue has been made more complicated by the ever-changing restrictions on the type of businesses that are permitted to re-open. We are hoping based on the current government plan for schools to all be back in September that many of our activities will be able to re-start at this time. Albeit with the necessary COVID-19 safe precautions put in place and restrictions on numbers. We appreciate that there are a high number of customers that had parties booked prior to the lockdown restrictions. Your patience and support during the closure has been incredible and please be assured that when services re-open you will be offered a priority re-booking period. All those with pending parties will be contacted directly by the end of this week to advise you on potential rebooking options. The good news is that when we do reopen the Play Centre our LEGO loving customers will enjoy a [...]

Business Update: 8th June 2020

By |2020-09-07T18:39:39+01:00June 9th, 2020|Brickies at home, News|

For the last ten weeks we have been producing and releasing a new LEGO building challenge every Saturday morning. Our aim was to provide children with inspiration and an opportunity to escape into a world of play, particularly during these challenging times. We have been so grateful for the feedback we have received over this time, it has been the fuel we needed to keep going. Sadly, we have made the decision to temporarily stop producing and releasing new videos. The reason for stopping is that as lockdown restrictions start to ease across the country, we are now planning for our re-opening. Like many businesses it isn’t simply a case of re-opening our doors. Once the government gives the green light to leisure / hospitality industry businesses to open we need to ensure that we are providing a safe play environment for you and our staff. Therefore, our short-term focus is on refurbishing and re-designing our Play Centre to ensure we can offer socially distanced play sessions. If all goes to plan, we are hoping to be inviting you back in early July. We are embracing the changes that are imposed on us as an opportunity to re-think how we deliver our play sessions. We are confident that the changes we are implementing will not only tick the required safety requirements but [...]

Brickies at home: LEGO Baseplates

By |2020-09-07T18:39:40+01:00May 27th, 2020|Brickies at home|

At Brickies we have hundreds of these 32 x 32 LEGO baseplates. We find that children, in particular younger children, find it easier to build when they have large base area to start. These are great to build houses, a specific scene and could be a great homeschool resource. We are often asked where the best place to get them is and the truth is it varies as the RRP is £6.99 it is worth shopping around for offers. At the time of writing this, Amazon have these on offer at £5.50 each. https://amzn.to/2Aev6zA Buy Now From Amazon

Mars and Earth have approximately the same landmass. Mars is home to the tallest mountain in the solar system. Mars has the largest dust storms in the solar system. LEGO Movie Making – Stop Motion Animation Tutorial

By |2020-09-07T18:39:41+01:00April 21st, 2020|Brickies at home, Videos|

Our LEGO Stop Motion Animation Workshops are hugely popular as children take on the challenge of being a movie director. We usually deliver these workshops for children aged 8+ but we have had lots children younger join in and as long as they have some adult supervision they will have a great time too. As we cannot deliver any workshops at the moment we thought we would put together a video tutorial on how to create your own LEGO movie. Check out the video below. This activity typically lasts between 90 minutes to two hours, depending on how immersed you become with your movie.   We have also created a storyboard template you can download and print at home to help with the activity. If you have enjoyed this activity and would like to share with us the video you made please drop us an email at info@brickies.club
