Review: LEGO Duplo 10962 Buzz Lightyear’s Planetary Mission

By |2022-10-05T19:13:50+01:00October 5th, 2022|LEGO Reviews|

At our Play Centre in Wokingham we have a special play area dedicated to DUPLO bricks. This is a great space for younger children that enjoy the play experience that DUPLO sets offer. We are always on the look out for new sets to add to our collection for our Mini Master Builders to play with. Today we picked up the Buzz Lightyear's Planetary Mission DUPLO Set 10962. At the time of purchasing there was a good deal on Amazon for the set - check out the latest price here. The LEGO Duplo 10962 Buzz Lightyear's Planetary Mission set is designed for children aged 2 years and up. I am sure that any child who has seen the Lightyear film or any of the Toy Story films would enjoy this set. Buzz's Spaceship is the highlight of the set, it has two blue booster flames that are added onto the back. It has a space to sit Buzz and a passenger. The set itself comes with a basic instruction booklet on how to put the small space base together and is no more than a 5 minute build but the value of Duplo is in the play aspect of the sets. I can imagine that children will really utilise [...]

Review: LEGO CITY 60348 Lunar Roving Vehicle

By |2022-10-04T17:26:45+01:00October 4th, 2022|LEGO Reviews|

This week at Brickies we will be delivering our Thursday Home Education session on 'Life in Space' and we decided to link in the topic to the NASA Artemis Mission. Which meant we had the perfect opportunity to build and play with the LEGO City 60348 Lunar Roving Vehicle which is based on the Artemis Rover Vehicle concepts. The RRP of the set is £29.99 but we managed to pick it up a bit cheaper from Amazon. Check out the latest price here. When unboxing this LEGO City set you are greeted with three bags of building joy. Bag one dives straight in with the Minifigures and in my opinion the best element of the set, the crystallised boulder. I have seen many of a LEGO boulder but this one is special with its blue crystal fragments inside and speckled glimpses of the crystal from the outside too. This will be a much desired piece at Brickies especially as the blue translucent crystals are always a favourite, so combined with a boulder it will likely cause quite a reaction! I personally think the LEGO Minifigures that come with this Lunar Roving Vehicle set are great. My favourite element is the torso of what appears to be the driver of the Lunar Vehicle. [...]

Business Update: 5th March 2021

By |2021-03-05T11:11:34+00:00March 5th, 2021|Brickies at home, News|

BUSINESS UPDATE - PLEASE READ COVID-19: Our Play Centre will not open until 17th May 2021 at the earliest, this date has been set by the government and is subject to change. We have made the decision not to take any new bookings until the end of April 2021 to ensure that we are only booking parties or sessions that we can guarantee to take place. The restrictions on social distancing for indoor play centres has yet to be published and therefore taking bookings too early could impact the the size of parties and pricing. We apologise for the disappointment this many cause.

Our Play Centre is temporarily closed from Saturday 19th December 2020. Please note that Wokingham, where our Centre is based, is currently in Tier 3 of the government COVID-19 restrictions. This means that our business has been forced to close again. We will re-open once Wokingham moves back in to Tier 2. If you have a booking with us and you have yet to be contacted then please do get in touch so we can organise a credit or refund on your booking. We wish all of our customers a very merry Christmas and we look forward to welcoming you all back in 2021.

We look forward to re-opening our Play Centre on Saturday 5th December. Due to Wokingham currently being positioned in Tier 2 of the government's COVID-19 restrictions we can only allow those who are from the same household to build inside the same pod. At this time we cannot allow children or adults from different households to mix within our centre. If you already have a booking that has now become impacted by the current tier 2 restrictions then please contact us to discuss your options. We look forward to welcoming you back to our Play Centre for some LEGO building fun.

Sadly our Play Centre will be closed again from Thursday 5th November and hopefully re-opening on Saturday 5th December, dependant on government restrictions in place at that time. We will be contacting everyone that has a booking with us during the closed period, please bear with us over the next few days whilst we make our way through the list of customers. Although we have only just re-opened, the week just passed was fantastic and left us with a feeling of optimism for the future. Thank you to everyone that has visited and continues to support us as a business, we cannot describe how much it means to us.

October Half Term LEGO Fun

By |2020-10-20T18:24:01+01:00October 20th, 2020|Brickies at home, News|

This October half term at our Play Centre in Wokingham we will be delivering a 'halloween' themed building session for all our Master Builders. We are super excited to welcome our guests at it is our first holiday period that we have been open since the lockdown in March. Our visitors will enjoy the secure and private use of their Play Pod when they arrive. The Play Pod has thousands of pieces of LEGO and everything you need to bring your imagination to life using bricks. We will be delivering your halloween themed presentation from within the pod using our new flat screen tvs. We would love to see as many of guests a possible dressed up in their most spooktacular costumes. There will be two building challenges plus a bonus build, for those that have time, to try and complete within your 90 minute session. We would love to see adults getting involved in the LEGO building fun too. Why not order a hot drink from The Chocolate Cafe located opposite us and settle down for some uninterrupted LEGO building. During half term Holme Grange Craft Village, where we are based, has a number of exciting activities scheduled for children plus there are a selection of great shops for the adults to enjoy too. Business Update: 19th October 2020

By |2020-10-20T17:32:49+01:00October 20th, 2020|Brickies at home, News|

We are VERY excited to announce that our Play Centre is back open and we are taking bookings for half term onwards. We have been busy refurbishing and redesigning our centre to ensure that our service is not only COVID-19 secure but an even better building experience than before. We have done this by splitting up the centre into 5 x LEGO private Play Pods and 1 x DUPLO private Play Pod. When visiting Brickies you will have 90 minutes of uninterrupted building time with access to thousands of LEGO bricks just for you and your ‘social bubble’. Your mission will be delivered to you from within your Play Pod, as each one has its own flat screen tv. There is nowhere better than Brickies to bring your imagination to life using LEGO. We have been quietly trialling our Play Pods over the last month to ensure the experience is what we hoped it to be. The feedback has been great and now we look forward to inviting more people in to enjoy it. Our private Play Pods are just one way that we aim to keep everyone safe. You can read more about the steps that we have taken here - Please note that we no longer have any communal seating and that adults will need to be counted [...]

Business Update: 3rd August 2020

By |2020-10-20T17:33:09+01:00August 3rd, 2020|Brickies at home, News|

Sadly, we have come to the decision that all services delivered by Brickies will remain closed for August. We are working hard to ensure that we can have a successful reopening at the beginning of September. Like many businesses, Brickies has been closed for 6 long months now and although we have benefitted from certain government schemes, it remains a complex task to successfully re-open a business during the current climate. This issue has been made more complicated by the ever-changing restrictions on the type of businesses that are permitted to re-open. We are hoping based on the current government plan for schools to all be back in September that many of our activities will be able to re-start at this time. Albeit with the necessary COVID-19 safe precautions put in place and restrictions on numbers. We appreciate that there are a high number of customers that had parties booked prior to the lockdown restrictions. Your patience and support during the closure has been incredible and please be assured that when services re-open you will be offered a priority re-booking period. All those with pending parties will be contacted directly by the end of this week to advise you on potential rebooking options. The good news is that when we do reopen the Play Centre our LEGO loving customers will enjoy a [...]
