The learning objectives of our KS1 Exploring Ocean Life workshop are designed to align with the science curriculum, bringing the wonders of the ocean to life. Students will learn about marine habitats and the diversity of ocean life, inspired by the explorations of Jacques Cousteau. What Will The Students Build

When it comes to building, the Brickies experience ensures that children have access to all the LEGO bricks they need to bring their imagination to life. We provide thousands of LEGO bricks, meticulously sorted by colour and key part types to guarantee the best possible building experience.

During this workshop, there will be two exciting building challenges:

Ocean Exploration Vehicle Challenge: Students will design and construct their own LEGO ocean exploration vehicle, inspired by the legendary RV Calypso, to imagine what it would take to explore the deep sea.

Marine Habitat Challenge: Students will create their own vibrant marine habitat, featuring colourful coral and unique sea creatures, allowing for imaginative interpretations of life under the waves.

KS1 Exploring Ocean Life Workshop Duration

Our Exploring Ocean Life with Jacques Cousteau Workshop is 75 minutes of immersive, hands-on learning. We begin with an engaging visual presentation that vividly showcases the wonders of ocean life and the legacy of underwater exploration. During this session, we explore existing knowledge and discuss fascinating facts about marine habitats, ocean conservation, and the pioneering work of Jacques Cousteau.

Following the presentation, we introduce two exciting LEGO building challenges. First, the children are tasked with building their own ocean exploration vehicle, inspired by the RV Calypso, to imagine exploring the depths of the sea. The second challenge involves creating a vibrant marine habitat, complete with colourful coral and sea creatures, allowing them to bring underwater ecosystems to life.

To conclude the school workshop, we review the children’s creations, summarise the key lessons learned, and encourage teachers to capture photos of the LEGO masterpieces. This workshop not only educates but also inspires creativity and critical thinking through playful exploration of the ocean.
